Turfco Kikuyu

A warm season variety suitable for both domestic and commercial use. Kikuyu grows vigorously during the summer months, goes dormant over winter yet retains its colour throughout the year if not heavily frost affected.

Kikuyu is favoured for its quick establishment and growth rate.

It grows faster than any other lawn grass and as a result is most suited to large open expanses, sports fields etc., where mowing, invasion of gardens or shade is not an issue. This variety forms a dense mat with a deep root system which is suitable for erosion prone areas and makes it hard to kill. As it is a sun loving grass, Kikuyu may thin out and become sparse over winter and extended dry periods which can also lead to weed invasion, however if well maintained and looked after such issues may not be evident.
