Sir Walter Turf

(Stenotaphram secundatum):

Sir Walter Turf is an Australian native Soft Leaf Buffalo grass developed within the last decade in the Hunter region of NSW.

Sir Walter has quickly become one of the country's most sought after lawn grasses, namely due to its excellent suitability to our coastal environment.

With its soft leaf and great looking, lush emerald-green appearance, combined with high shade and salt tolerance as well as low maintenance and hardwearing qualities, Sir Walter turf makes for a terrific all-round home lawn. And, increasingly important, its low water usage and high drought tolerance means there's few, if any other lawn varieties that even come close to matching its overall performance.

Sir Walter soft leaf buffalo grass will perform well in most locations; will maintain a deep emerald green appearance throughout the warmer months; and will require little maintenance when compared to other varieties.

If it's Sir Walter you want for your lawn, insist on a certificate of authenticity. Accept No Substitute!

  • Pros: Great colour over warmer months and throughout the year in coastal environments, self repairing, hard wearing, low maintenance, requires minimal watering, will last indefinitely with minimal maintenance.

  • Cons: Can have poor colour over winter months in severe climates (Canberra, Southern Highlands, parts of Illawarra) due to frost and winter severity, however will use about 60% less water than cool season grasses, runner system can be invasive of gardens, but much less than Kikuyu and Couch

Sir Walter Turf supplied to NSW, ACT, Shoalhaven, Wollongong, South Coast, Illawarra, Southern Highlands, Berry, Goulburn, St George, Sutherlandshire, Batemans Bay and much much more.
